Challenge
In 2005 a small company (QuikDocs) partnered with a larger website to sell legal and financial documents on their behalf. Teaming up with an established organization always proves difficult. Learning that you have to compete with the organization for sales soon after introduces a new problem. The good folks at QuickDocs came to us with this specific worry. They teamed up with one of the world's largest online document suppliers, but after months in the field were unable to come out of their much larger partner's shadow and create a customer base of their own.
This is quite a common problem in the industry. Especially with the abundance of affiliate programs being dished out by most E-Commerce companies. It becomes a case in where smaller companies have to compete with their own suppliers. Websites that are much larger, more established in the eyes of the search engines and often with large dollars backing up their marketing efforts.
Creative & Execution
Up for the challenge, the Internut team knew that it was vital to gut the entire website so to remove any link it had with its predecessor and then rebuild it from scratch with the same end content but using a completely new CMS and navigation system. Manually this mammoth task would neither be cost efficient nor time savvy. Instead we had enlisted the help of a team of highly skilled developers that specialized in designing spiders that were able to crawl and nitpick the vital information from the old website and then replace it into our newly developed system. This would immediately cut development time and costs and would also allow greater control on altering marketing strategies based on feedback and web analytics.
The sites key design feature was to be its simplicity. Redundant code was removed from the old website and so was the database. Instead the spider rebuilt the entire site in hardcode. Not a common strategy used in web development due to the work involved in it but one that does wonders for SEO site credibility.
In addition Internut marketing team sent proposals to hundreds of websites in the industry that could mutually benefit with a partnership with QuickDocs. With a high positive response ratio and an easy to integrate partnership software the campaign was successfully executed within a matter of weeks.
Performance
It was fair to say that end results had proved much more then pleasing. The new website showed immediate traffic flow increases from partner websites initially and a second more abrupt jump from search engines after just a few months. QuickDocs quickly climbed the ranks for niche and targeted keywords in major search engines. This was reflected in the sites’ monthly sales and customer turnover ratios. Exact figures are kept confidential but QuickDocs were able to get a ROI within five months and had managed to triple it within one year.
